oin us for a brand new Quest Capsule story, “A Declaration in Williamsburg: An Independence Day Story.” We spent the Fourth of July walking the streets of Colonial Williamsburg, capturing a full day where history felt strikingly present. From early morning to nightfall, we followed the energy, tradition, and spirit of 1776 as it pulsed through the city.

You will hear Thomas Jefferson read the Declaration of Independence from beginning to end. As those famous words are spoken in their entirety, you will see and hear the celebrations unfolding all around us while we explore this historic city.

Throughout the day, we wandered Duke of Gloucester Street, walked the Palace Green, stepped into quiet hidden hideaways, visited a military encampment set up near the Powder Magazine, and listened as street choirs and festivities filled the air. We spotted founding fathers, including General George Washington, and even slipped into places like the Raleigh Tavern, where ideas of liberty once took shape. There, we hoped to catch a glimpse of a green relic that had recently returned to its rightful place.
